Antique Aboriginal Taiwanese Knife Set

Antique Aboriginal Taiwanese Knife Set, circa early 1900s, likely from the Atayal tribe.

 This beautiful piece is characterized by curved  upswept blades with carved figural wooden handles. These tools were essential for indigenous men, used for survival, hunting, and warfare as well holding cultural significance for the tribes that use them. The open scabbard design w/ steel staples allows air circulation to prevent rusting. The hand carved scabbard is fantastic, with multiple faces and carved fish at the tip with human face, with fastening holes on one side. Overall excellent condition, no cracks or chips. A very unique piece! SPECS: 7” blade, 10.25” OAL (14.75” OAL w/ scabbard).
