New Old Stock Boker Applegate (First Combat Design) OSS 1942 Dagger, an exquisite limited edition piece handmade by Master Hiro in Seki, Japan. In 1942, while with the OSS, Col. Rex Applegate designed his first combat fighting knife.
Boker commissioned famous knife maker, Hiro in Seki-Japan, to recreate this famous blade. This was a very limited run, as Master Hiro only produced a total of 600 pieces worldwide, with only 300 made available to collectors in the US market.
It features a thick double-edged AUS-8 stainless steel blade, sharpened on both sides w/ flat median ridge down the center, fine satin finish, etched “OFFICE OF STRATEGIC SERVICE OSS 1942 FIRST APPLEGATE COMBAT DAGGER DESIGN.” Also deeply etched with “SF” wings, the OSS flying logo. Ricasso is marked “356” on one side and “JAPAN” on the other. Full, thick, oval brass guard w/ similar ferrule and solid brass pommel. Rounded center swell stacked leather washer handle. Includes the original high quality leather sheath & original box (marked “KE2004 356"). SPECS: 7” blade, 12.25” OAL. A RARE SPECIMEN!
