Antique Italian Cut Steel Dirk, circa 1840-60s, featuring a thick double-edged dagger blade, median ridge down the center, very sharp tip. The blade is almost quadrangular in shape, just a little wider than it is thick. All-steel handle with full steel guard, with scalloped large finials on the ends. Round twisted, spiraling, steel handle, with scalloped pommel, identical to the guard finials, with leather fastener attached to the pommel. Cast steel sheath, with nice tight fitting with wood or paper insert to receive the blade. The sheath is substantial, with low relief beaded throat, with nude woman on the top half and fearsome face below, with fleur de-list at the tip. This one is older than the more typical copper/brass versions. SPECS: 3.25” blade, 6.5” OAL, 7.25” OAL w/ scabbard. A museum quality piece!
