Vintage Handmade Miniature Wooden Duck Decoys

Vintage Miniature Wooden Duck Decoys, handmade by Capt. Jessie Urie (1901-1978) out of Rock Hall, MD. Each handcarved duck features beautifully detailed painting and the artists hand signature on the bottom (sold individually).

Jess Urie made his living by fishing & renting party boats for fishing trips he chartered. When the well known decoy carver Capt. John Glen (1876 - 1954) moved in next door, Urie started carving decoys as well and continued doing so for the rest of his life. Each bird was completed with extensive feather and wing painting. Urie stopped making full sized decoys in 1968 and turned his attention to crafting these miniature versions that replicated the style of his working decoys (Fleckenstein, Decoys 250). Working full-time with his son Roger, Urie carved quite a few species.
